A lot of people have been working hard out in the heat to ensure a cooler summer for those in need.

The Jefferson Area Board of Aging was accepting donations Friday for their Cool-Aid Program, which provides air conditioners to people whose health is threatened by high heat and humidity.

Local businesses have been getting involved and are hoping their donations will make difference.

"We're just trying to give back to the community that's given so much to us already," says Best Buy Representative Brent Herzog. "We just want to let everybody know that Best Buy is here as a community partner and as a business partner within the community."

JABA raised at least $7,000 today alone and received 15 air conditioners from Best Buy. Officials say they are going to need as many donations as possible to meet the rising demand for cooling units.
