The brand new Charlottesville Target officially opened Sunday morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The store has been open since Wednesday, but this morning at 8 a.m., employees and managers officially welcomed the new retail store to the Hollymead Town Center.

Target is the center piece in the 180 acre site that will feature a Harris Teeter Grocery store, apartments and townhomes, offices and restaurants. The Harris Teeter is expected to open in August.

Executive Team Leader Anita Kalota says that the store is happy with sales so far and excited about the prospect of serving Charlottesville residents.

"It has been great. We have been very pleased with the team members and very pleased with the community supporting us. It is a very exciting time for us," she said.
