A local non-profit literacy group has added 3,000 new books to its collection thanks to the Dave Matthews Band.

The Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville-Albemarle has received $15,000 worth of books

The books range in age kindergarten through high school, and will be used to help teach adults to read.

The literacy group is extremely thankful for the donation.

"We've never been able to purchase books like this before because of our budget, and so it's really increasing, literally tripling the books that we have available in our library," says Administrative Director Dutchie Kidd.

The literacy group addresses low literacy and under-education in the city and county through free, individualized instruction, something they have been doing since 1983.
