The former administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency visited the University of Virginia today. It was all to kickoff Darden's 50th Anniversary Speaker Series.

Christine Todd Whitman shared her views on today's politics in the business school's auditorium. Whitman, also a former New Jersey governor, says both parties are increasingly moving farther to extremes and neglecting Americans in the center. She's calling on Democrats and Republicans to both make a move towards the middle.

"Their challenge is to try to make politics less ugly. To allow people to come together...who may disagree on an individual basis, but come together to try to work through solutions to problems in ways that benefit this country," said Whitman.

Whitman led the EPA during the Bush Administration from January 2001 to June 2003. There has been talk about her running for the vice presidency, but Whitman says she doesn't believe that will happen.
