The Downtown Visitor's center is hosting a silent auction to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita.

The money raised will help the relief efforts and go directly to the American Red Cross.

Some of the items being auctioned are a one-year parking pass to the water street garage, two round trip tickets from Charlottesville to New York, and a weekend stay at the Boar's Head Inn

"We have about $17,000 worth of donated services and goods that are here, in this room. The auction will run from today through Thursday at 4 p.m. which will be the closing bids," said Mark Shore, Director of the Downtown Visitor's Center.

The silent auction is at the Downtown Visitor's Center inside the Market Street garage. They are accepting bids from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
