Some local kids got their chance to tee-off at Penn Park Wednesday.
It was all part of the Charlottesville First-Tee program which is open to all kids ages 5-17. The kid's program is one of the few local golf programs in the country awarded a charter. Wednesday marked their end of year celebration. The program uses golf to teach life skills and core values all while having fun.
"Golf is such a challenging game, such a rewarding game; it's frustrating but it's something you can do for the rest of your life, 30, 40 years from now, you can go hit golf balls, with your son, your daughter, your mom [or] your dad," said Phillip Seay, Director of First Tee Program.
This is the first year for the first-tee program.
