Albemarle County Police are investigating a shooting in the 700 block of Castle Court in the Abbington Crossing Apartment complex.
The victim was driving a vehicle at the time, and at some point before or after the shooting, lost control and drove across a grassy area of the complex.
Police got the call around 9:15 p.m. for a report of a shooting. When they responded, they discovered a black male suffering from what is believed to be a gunshot wound to the neck. He was slumped over the wheel of a Silver GMC Yukon. The Yukon was located in a grassy area between two sets of townhomes.
The victim was transported to UVA Medical Center where he is being treated. At this time, there is no word on his condition however initial reports say he was conscious and breathing at the time the medics transported him to the hospital.
Police continue to investigate the incident. At this time, they have no motives or suspects in the shooting. The identification of the victim is also unknown at this time.
