Virginia Blood Services hosted a "Battle of the Broadcasters" blood drive in Seminole Square.
VBS, the sole provider of blood to Charlottesville hospitals, is encouraging more people from the community to donate blood.
CBS19, ABC16, and FOX27, along with other media outlets, sponsored the event in an effort to help VBS fill the summertime blood deficit.
"Summertime is always a time of great need for blood because schools are closed, colleges and high schools, and also people are on vacation," says VBS Public Information Officer Nancy Dean.
People who were not able to donate blood during the blood drive can visit vablood.org to schedule an appointment, or visit VBS at 2401 Hydraulic Rd. as well as the West Hospital at UVA.
