It's a proven fact that exercise can bring many healthy rewards such as weight loss and energy. But when exactly is the best time to workout?

Diane Cutitta has exercised all of her life at all different times of the day but finds that her best workouts are usually in the morning.

"You feel more happy. You feel like you want to just keep on going all day long, you [have] all this energy. And you can do your work better too," said Cutitta.

Studies show that exercising in the morning gives you more energy, increases your metabolism and helps to burn more calories. Cutitta says her morning workouts motivate her to eat better throughout the day.

"If I workout in the afternoon I feel like I cheated somewhere in my healthy eating and if I workout at night I feel like I really cheated," she explained.

Most people tend to workout in the evenings between the hours of five and seven or usually right after work. Although that might fit easier into your schedule it's not always the most beneficial time.

"Your going to burn a little bit less calories because your going to be sleeping, [for] some people it affects your sleep slightly," said Mike Hickory, a personal trainer at Gold's Gym.

Hickory suggest his clients workout in the morning to get the best workout results but says working out period, no matter what time of day, is still better than not working out at all.

He said, "You'll get used to it in the long run, your body will adjust, and whenever you can do, do it, as long as you do it four to five times a week."

And it comes as no surprise that a lack of sleep can also affect your workout by making you less likely to want to do it. The healthiest lifestyles include both exercise and a good night's rest.
