Greene County officials are investigating a shooting that left one woman injured. It happened just after seven Tuesday night along Ford avenue in Green County near Stanardsville.

A door riddled with at least 20 bullet holes is all that's left from Tuesday nights scene. Investigators say someone pulled up to the house with a rifle around 7 Tuesday night. They used a rifle to fire three shots. Margo Brock heard them almost a mile away.

"It was like a whole lot of them, it was scary though, it was really scary," said Brock.

One bullet hit 45-year-old Sandra Crawford in the stomach. Her son and little nephew were also inside but didn't get hurt. Now everyone wants to know who the shooter had it in for--either Crawford or her son.

"[We're asking] is anybody angry at them or are there any outstanding arguments or domestic issues, anything that may have happened prior to the incident," said Capt. Randall Snead of the Greene County Sheriffs Office.

Crawford's family can't understand how something so vicious could happen to someone so nice. The type of person they say likes to play bingo and go to church.

"Why would someone shoot her, she did nothing to no one," said Sandrema Bright, a relative of Crawford's.

It's the question investigators hope to answer, but until then Sandrema Bright says she's on edge.

"That just means anybody could come up and shoot anyone at anytime, it happened once it will happen again and again," said Bright.

Crawford was released from the hospital earlier today. Investigators are still searching for a motive or any suspects. They're asking anyone who may know anything about this case to call them at 434-985-2222.
