Local salons are doing their part to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Today 13 Charlottesville salons handed celebrity John Grisham over $6,400 in cash.

That's all the proceeds from this past Sunday?s cut-a-thon. The money will go to Grisham's Rebuild the Coast Foundation.

?Pretty soon we are going to start spending this money. We have a partnership with Habitat for Humanity and we are going to build six houses here in Charlottesville,? said Grisham.

UVa students will start building two of those houses on Sunday and in November four more houses will be built on the downtown mall.

Grisham expects to deliver the new homes to the Gulf Coast sometime in January.
