Charlottesville police have released surveillance video tonight that they hope will help them catch a thief.

The man they are hunting for struck twice in the same shopping center early this morning.

The Pet Forum and Image Reflections in the Seminole square shopping center were both broken into early this morning.

The robbery of the Pet Forum was captured on the store's video monitors, and now they hope this video will lead to an arrest in the double break-in.

"The police said that somewhere between 3:15 and 3:30 somebody broke in with what they thought was a crow bar," said Bill Randall, Pet Forum's Owner.

The robber smashed the glass doors of both the Pet Forum and the store next door, Image Reflections.

"Video surveillance shows an unidentified person of interest inside the business and all we're asking at this time is if for everybody to take a look at the pictures and see if they can identify this man," said Detective Scott Godfrey of the Charlottesville Police.

In the video you can see a man using what looks like a crow bar to pry open both registers. He then pulls out the money and stuffs it into his pockets.

"A black male wearing a dark colored shirt and jeans is the description at this time for the person of interest," said Godfrey.

The owner of the Pet Forum said they took everything in the registers but no money was taken from Image Reflections.

"If they catch the guy, I hope that they do, but I don't know what'll happen to him. I doubt he's going to have the money on him and going to give it back to me," said Randall.

Detectives are still investigating this case and ask that if you recognize the man in the video or have any information about the break-ins to call Crimestoppers at 434-977-4000.
