Students in Albemarle County received some special recognition today for lending a helping hand.
Leaders of the Albemarle County School Division honored them as part of 'Make A Difference Day" around the nation.
Twenty-six of the county's schools were on-hand to receive plaques for their volunteering, which played an important role in helping hurricane victims.
"As part of the celebration, each school presented what they had accomplished over [the 'Make A Difference celebration'], and it was neat to see other students say, 'oh, wow I wish we had done that,' or 'that's a good idea we can do later,'" said Ron Price, of the Albemarle County Schools' Parents/Teachers Council.
Albemarle County schools estimate their efforts have raised $80,000 so far this year.
