A group of women are spicing up the second Tuesday of each month in Charlottesville. This group throws down on the arm wrestling table while wearing elaborate costumes all for a good cause.
The Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers, or CLAW for short, take over the Blue Moon Diner to raise money for a different women’s charity each month. They dress as characters like Cowgirl Sady-istic, The Homewrecker, Debbie Debutante, The Prim Reaper, and The Banana Blitz.
Fans and supporters use “claw bucks” to bet on their favorite contender. By the end of the night, the group raises hundreds of dollars from the claw bucks. Past recipients of the CLAW profits include a woman cycling around the country to promote peace awareness, and the Charlottesville Women’s Roller Derby Team.
