Time Is Getting Closer and Closer for Toscano and McCrystal

Video will be available shortly.

November 2, 2005

For the candidates running for the 57th District it's boiling down to two things, their vision and their experience.

"We've run very hard on funding education first, providing better water and air for our community and making sure that the rights of people are protected in this district of the Commonwealth of Virginia," says Democrat Candidate David Toscano.

"I've spent the last four years in Richmond, working on legislative issues, working on privacy issues, working on ways to make government work better and cost less," says Republican Candidate Thomas McCrystal.

McCrystal nor Toscano have prior experience as an elected official, but both say they're confident in their credentials.

"If you want to have Charlottesville to have a seat at the table, you need someone in the room, and not only am I going to be in the room, I've already been in the room," says McCrystal.

"I've been down in Richmond, I know how it works. I have experience there that nobody else really has from here."

Toscano has been here since 1981 and believes his long service in the public realm will help him win.

"I know how to work hard with people across jurisdictional lines and political lines to get things done."

McCrystal is the underdog in this race, but says he's been campaigning hard and believes there will be a lot of surprises come Election Day.
