It may not have been very cold outside today, but winter is just around the corner. That means it's important to make sure your car is ready for his arrival. Read more on how you can winter proof your car.
With the leaves and temperatures falling, snowy scenes will only become more common over the coming weeks. It's more important now than ever to remember your four-wheeled friend.
"The last thing you want is a breakdown right in the middle of winter when you need it the most, because the weather is obviously much colder. You don't want to be sitting on the side of the road waiting on a repair truck, or a mechanic," said Douglas Harris, an automobile technician at Larry's Auto Repair in Charlottesville.
Don't wait for the cold temperatures to set in. There's no better time than the present to winter proof your car.
"Right now is as good a time as any. You can do it a little earlier, you can do it a little later, but the sooner obviously the better," said Harris.
By following a simple winter checklist, your car can be ready to conquer the elements.
"You want to look at things like hoses, belts, and you obviously want to check the anti-freeze to see what it's protecting to," Harris added.
A simple visit to any local auto repair shop can have your car ready for winter in literally no time at all.
This little bit of preparation can go a long way during the snowy winter months.
"It's just good preventable maintenance. It's not that expensive and obviously, the better care you take of the car, the better care it's going to take of you," Harris said.
