For nearly 30 years meals on wheels has helped residents in the Charlottesville area, serving more than 3,500 meals a month.
With recent cost increases, Meals on Wheels is asking for help. Program organizes say while helping nearly 42,000 people this year, they may have gained a $20,000 shortfall.
They're asking for 20 additional volunteers and more monetary donations to assist with providing the food. Although they are facing some trying times, they do plan to continue their mission.
"We've never turned anyone away and we don't expect to; we don't want to," said Meals on Wheels Secretary. "That's why we're working very hard to increase our volunteers and the amount the money coming in to our coffers."
If you would like to help Meals on Wheels, give them a call at 434-293-4364.
