The days of making relief maps and dioramas for school projects are over. UVa students are creating robots in their first year as engineering majors.
They spent a good deal of the semester creating these machines that move, crawl, and spring objects. Students made them so they push a button and the robot moves on it's own.
"We had to make three shots from three different zones and then it was our class time that we worked with our team to come up with the design," said Jeremy McDonnell who created a robot with a team.
About 100 1st Year Students competed in the design competition.
