2 Killed in Weather-related Wrecks in Va.

December 27, 2012

RICHMOND, Virginia (AP)— Two people in Virginia are dead following weather-related accidents.

Virginia State Police tell media outlets that a 14-year-old girl was killed in Campbell County when a vehicle she was riding in ran off the road and hit a tree. Two other teens were injured.

A 35-year-old Covington woman was killed in Botetourt County when she lost control of her vehicle on U.S. 220 in Eagle Rock. The vehicle crossed the center line and was hit by another vehicle.

State police attributed both accidents to icy road conditions. The accidents occurred Wednesday.

Snow, ice and rain made travel treacherous across Virginia. State police say troopers responded to 686 traffic wrecks statewide on Wednesday.
