The day after Thanksgiving sales are one of the more popular shopping days of the year and Charlottesville residents kept the tradition going.

As early as 5 a.m., shoppers were forming lines outside of stores to catch sales ranging from five to nearly 50 percent.

"I went to Wal-Mart, but that was a madhouse," said Ashly Louerback, a "Black Friday" shopper. "So I went back home and came back at 7."

Most sales wrapped up around noon, but if you missed out some stores will have sale that run through Saturday.
