There is good news for those who haven't received their flu shots yet. Starting this Monday, more flu shots will be available at your local health department.
The demand has been higher this year than in the past, and many doctors offices still haven't received their orders. Right now flu shots are only available to those most at risk, including infants and the elderly.
"They start on Monday in Charlottesville and other days in other county health departments so people can call on Monday starting the day after Thanksgiving," said Dr. Susan McLeod, Director of the Charlottesville Health Department.
The shots cost $28, and both Medicare and Medicaid are accepted.
