A gala event is set to hit Charlottesville, and it's all for a good cause. The "Building Goodness Foundation" along with "Just Cause" is throwing the dance to raise money for their Charlottesville Pearlington Relief Effort.
The project helps build shelters for people in Southern Mississippi, who lost their homes when Hurricane Katrina hit. Teams are already there and have built 30 cabins so far for residents.
"They've said that what Charlottesville and Central Virginia is doing is showing them how to get back on their feet, and showing them very, very powerfully how much people up here care about them," said Freeman Allan, with Building Goodness Foundation.
The gala will be held at the Fry Springs Beach Club on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. They're hoping to raise between $40,000 - 80,000 to build about 200 cabins. Tickets are $40 each and can be purchased at Plan 9 Records and Greenberry's coffee shops.
