An explosion in southern Albemarle county caused a garage to burn down Wednesday night.

Neighbors said the explosion sounded like a cannon and shook their house. Fire fighters responded to the fire outside of Scottsville just before 10pm. The garage was part of a business on Red Row Lane. Two of the four vehicles parked nearby caught on fire, but firefighters protected two nearby buildings.

"No injuries to report at this time. It was a garage, everybody had gotten out. It's reported that they were working on a vehicle in the garage, but that's still under investigation at this time," said Chief Tim Cersley of Scottsville Fire.

Nine units responded to the fire.
