Albemarle County's Board of Supervisors met Wednesday to discuss progress on a proposed plan to attract more people to Crozet.

The Crozet master plan could potentially add nearly 2,000 new homes in the Old Trail Village development. The goal is to expand Crozet's population to 12,500 over the next 20 years.

County leaders are pushing forward on the project, although some concerned residents think the city's infrastructure can't keep up with the growth.

"In order to reach the 20-year population projection for Crozet it would have to grow at eight percent a year, it would have to add about 160 units a year," said Dennis Rooker, Chairman of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors.

County leaders say even though 160 units have not been built in a year before, they still feel the 20-year plan is enough time to prepare the area for more people.
