Charlottesville Democrats Criticize Cuccinelli's Remarks on Public Pools

May 24, 2013

Virginia Delegate David Toscano and Charlottesville Democratic Chair Jim Nix visiting the Onesty Family Aquatic Center on Friday.

Toscano and Nix talked about the opening of the public pools this weekend, and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli's attack on public pools in his recent book.

In the book, Cuccinelli says public pools are a threat to private pools, and are a burden for taxpayers.

Toscano says public pools are an asset to the community.

"The public pools are a great community resource where people from all walks of life, rich and poor, young and old, come to recreate and get to know each other, and to think that somehow we should privatize them really doesn't make sense to very many people."

Toscano believes Cuccinelli's views are too extreme for voters to elect him as Virginia's next governor.
