Hundreds of kids in our area will wake up Christmas morning with presents under the tree - all thanks to residents and the Salvation Army.
Today the organization distributed toys collected from the Angel Tree program. About 2,500 items were donated - including stuffed animals, dolls and bikes. Volunteers spent hours today helping residents get the goodies. They say it was well worth it.
"It's been very busy today and it's been wonderful to see. We've had some people come in here and shed some tears when they saw some of the toys we have for their children," said volunteer, Greg Huffman.
The Salvation Army helped out about 1,200 children this year.
