Fire officials are investigating the cause of an intense fire that claimed the life of an Albemarle County man.
Fire inspectors believe the fire started in the kitchen of the home, near the stove.
They also believe if there had been a smoke detector inside the home, a life might have been saved.
Hours after fire crews left the scene, neighbors in the area were left replaying the fire in their minds, trying to make sense of it all.
"I really...was shocked," said neighbor Daniel Williams. "I mean I didn't expect this, Aall I know is that when I looked out I could see the fire shooting in the sky and my first thought was 'somebody's in trouble.'"
Officials are still investigating the fire.
They expect to have the autopsy report as soon as Saturday.
