The countdown until 2006 is just days away which means many of you will be heading to the annual First Night Celebration on the downtown mall.
There is nothing like the mystery of magic to keep everybody entertained, and this year you can count on local magician Peter Monticup to add a little Hocus Pocus to everyone's new year.
He may not be dressed like a magician, but Peter Monticup always has a few tricks up his sleeve. He's been performing them for over 20 years, everything from big scale illusions to the more simple ones like making a knot disappear before your very eyes.
"I don't project myself as somebody being supernatural, it's an entertainment, it's not real magic," explained Monticup.
He's been charming crowds at the First Night celebration for eight years and it's no surprise why. His mind-boggling acts seem to dazzle everyone--from young to old.
"Some of the adults bring their children and say 'Oh, I don't really like magic, but my kids do' and they're the biggest kid at the end of the show," said Monticup.
His stunts often have even the most unbelievers scratching their heads. This mystery man has added even more spectacular tricks to go with the old. It's a show that's sure to keep even you parents guessing.
"Their heads are going to be spinning by the time they leave," said Monticup.
Monticup says that anyone can do what he does. It just takes great presentation and a lot of skill.
Go to www.firstnightva.org for more information on ticket and show times. Monticup says he plans to include the audience more this year, so come ready.
