Local acts of kindness were honored Friday night in Charlottesville.

The law firm of Allen Allen Allen & Allen recognized "Hometown Heroes" at Fridays After Five.

All the heroes, including several from Charlottesville, Albemarle, Greene, and Fluvanna, were nominated for "generating positive and measurable change in their community."

"There are lots of people in this community and the other communities that we serve who are doing good things for people very quietly, without pay, and it's nice to be able to recognize them so we enjoy doing this," said Jack Berry, a partner at Allen & Allen.

Berry read all fifty of the heroes' names on stage at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion.

Charlottesville Vice Mayor Kristin Szakos spoke to introduce the event.

Brooke Jenkins was recognized for her work as founder and president of Red Shoe Cville, a charity that helps the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charlottesville; the campaign team leader for United Way Thomas Jefferson Area; and chairwoman of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce's Business Women's Round Table.

"I just feel honored that Allen and Allen brought us out to win this award and I just feel so privileged to do just a little bit for my community to be able to give back," said Jenkins.

This is the fourth year that Allen & Allen has conducted Hometown Heroes.
