Albemarle County court records show that a family on Cottonwood Drive claims they were attacked late last week by three masked men with guns.
The court records show that the suspects were wearing ski masks when they forced their way inside the home. Then they allegedly attacked a father and son in the home, hitting them both with a gun.
The suspects are described as wearing hooded sweatshirts, and one of them was wearing Polo brand boots.
The court records say that the son thought he recognized the voice of one of the attackers as someone he used to hang out with. He gave that person's name to police, who searched that man's home, calling him a suspect. However, the search warrant indicates that they did not find anything belonging to the victims in his home.
No arrests have been made in this case.
But it comes less than a month after two other home invasions in the county, in which similar methods were used by the criminals.
The invasions on Colonnade Drive at University Heights and Lakeview Drive in June both involved multiple men who were armed. Albemarle County police say they are not sure if the attack on Cottonwood Drive is related to the earlier home invasions, but all three cases are still actively being investigated.
Police say they have made an arrest of one of the suspects in the Lakeview Drive invasion. They say 19-year-old David Camm Ragland, from Roseland, was arrested on June 26.
He faces charges of robbery, breaking and entering, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
