For the second time this week, Charlottesville Police are investigating an armed robbery near the Barracks Road Shopping Center. In this case, the victim was merely waiting for the streetlight to change.

Just before 6 p.m., a man was driving southbound on Millmont Street when he stopped for a traffic light.

"He stopped at the red light at Arlington Blvd. A black male approached from across the street. He didn't know what he wanted so he rolled his window down," said Lt. Gary Pleasants.

That is when Charlottesville Police say the man was victimized.

"The man pulled a knife on him and robbed the driver of an envelope with some cash in it and then ran Northbound on Millmont Street," Pleasants said.

The man was uninjured in the incident. Just Tuesday, Brian Kline was walking on the other side of the Barracks Road Shopping Center when he was robbed of his wallet and laptop computer. While the two incidents do not appear to be related, Kline says criminals are taking their chances.

"They were pretty bold to rob me right here where there is a lot of cars going by. And I just think that if someone is that bold to do that, they will do anything. I was pretty afraid that he would shoot me," he said.

Police continue to investigate both of the armed robberies. They also say, you should always be aware of your surroundings.

"If someone approaches, don't roll your window down whatever it might be. If you think something is wrong, just drove off and get out of there as quickly as you can," said Pleasants.

Charlottesville Police have obtained a description of the suspect wanted in tonight's case. He is being described as a black male, late 20's to early 30's, 5'8 to 5'10, and an one inch scar on his right cheek. He was last seen wearing a dark jacket with dark pants, yellow boots, and a Cowboys hat.

Police say the did a thorough canvas of the scene, but found no evidence left behind.
