Fmr. First Lady Talks New Book, McDonnell Scandal

Former Virginia First Lady Susan Allen was in Charlottesville on Saturday to hold a signing for her first children's book at Barnes and Noble.

The Remarkable Ronald Reagan: Cowboy and Commander in Chief is all about how Ronald Reagan was just a small-town boy who had big dreams.

Allen says it's important for the next generation of kids to know who he was and what he did.

She says she wrote the book to show young kids the hero Reagan was and how they can, too, be whatever they want to be.

As a former first lady of Virginia, we asked what she thinks of the gift scandal and investigation of Gov. Bob McDonnell and his wife, Maureen.

"We basically set up our own rules on gifts so we could take care of it the way we normally did, in office or out of office to make sure that people were thanked properly. We thought that was very important to do while we lived there," Allen said.

An investigation into the McDonnells' relationship with Star Scientific CEO Jonnie Williams is pending.
