Charlottesville Churches, NAACP to Protest Decision in Trayvon Martin Case

July 23, 2013

Several Charlottesville churches and the NAACP are joining together on Wednesday night for a march to protest the decision in the Trayvon Martin case.

Pastor Hodari Hamilton, from First Baptist Church, says it will be a peaceful march.

The group is particularly concerned about laws like "Stand Your Ground" in Florida.

"The Trayvon Martin case was helpful in that it exposed a law that's really dangerous and that encourages violence," says Pastor Hamilton. "We are concerned that if we're silent, and don't participate, then there will be a continued proliferation of laws that are unjust."

The march will start at 8 PM at the Free Speech Wall on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville. Marchers will then walk to the Federal Courthouse.
