It has been more than a year since the murder of Pherbia "Faye" Tinsley in Charlottesville, and police say they don't have any new leads.

"It's been a whole year, so why hasn't something been done?" said Barbara Paige, Tinsley's mother. "My main thing that's kept me going is God. I feel that she's with Him."

Tinsley was killed July 14, 2012. She was found shot to death in her car along Prospect Avenue.

Police say they are still investigating, but they have no new information to report on the case.

Paige is still filled with questions.

"Why would she go at that time of morning?" Paige said. "Why'd this happen to her?"

Paige does have a theory. She says Faye won $600 playing bingo earlier that night, and perhaps the murderer was after the money.

"The whole truck was tore up," Paige said. "Why did they tear the whole truck up?"

Paige says she was last contacted by police a couple weeks ago.

"They have some information, they said. But they're just keeping it."

So Paige is hanging on to her memories of her only daughter. She has even created a new scrapbook in Faye's honor.

"Faye always was one beautiful girl," Paige said. "And when I say beautiful, I'm not only talking about looks, but she was just good to everybody. That's why I don't understand why this would happen to her."

Paige is confident that, eventually, police will make an arrest and she will get her answers.

"When he does get caught, I would like to talk with him," Paige said. "I would ask him for one reason, 'Why did you have to shoot her?'"

Police did release a description of the suspect shortly after Tinsley's murder. They describe him as a black man with a thin mustache. He also has cursive tattoos on both arms and the letters "C" and "M" tattooed on his hands.

Those with information about this case are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 977-4000.
