A dozen Charlottesville-area residents rallied near the City Market Saturday to support Bradley Manning, the U.S. soldier charged with violating the Espionage Act.

Bradley Manning is currently on trial. He's the Army soldier who released government documents to the website Wikileaks and has been detained since 2010.

With signs and packets of information a dozen Charlottesville-area residents came together to make people aware of who Manning is.

They say he told the truth about what our military was doing and that that shouldn't be a crime.

"I have young kids and this is their future and I need to make sure that their rights are instilled and that they're going to have or have the ability to know whats going on in the world," said rally organizer and Fluvanna County resident, Jennifer Stewart.

There were rallies all over the world on Saturday for what's been called an International Day of Action for Manning.
