The man accused of raping a University of Virginia student almost 22 years ago has secured bond.
41-year-old William Beebe posted the $20,000 bail early this morning in Las Vegas.
During an extradition hearing yesterday, a Clarke County judge granted Beebe the right to travel to Charlottesville on his own.
The judge gave Beebe until February 9, 2006 to report to authorities here.
In the mean time, Charlottesville’s Commonwealth’s attorneys’ office is preparing extradition papers.
Beebe faces one count of felony rape with a maximum penalty of life in prison.
