Neither of the other two men was injured.
The train was traveling about 40 mph and managed to stop a short distance from the incident, which was near a trestle bridge, which crosses a nearby creek.
Police are withholding the identity of the man pending notification of next of kin.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
