A plane crash at the Danville Regional Airport leaves one man dead.
Officials have not identified the pilot, but say he was killed in the crash.
They believe he crashed into a tower as he was coming in for a landing. The plane then caught fire.
The crash hits close to home for students in Averett University's aviation program at the airport.
"When you're dealing with students who are excited about aviation I think that they are probably a little bit concerned with safety and things like that," says Travis Williams with Averett University. "But overall they don't seem to be deterred one bit."
The airport was closed after the crash on Thursday night. It reopened around noon on Friday.
The crash remains under investigation.
