Local environmental groups want city and state officials to make the environment a priority.
Today 17 groups banned together and presented city and county officials a list of environmental priorities.
They want law makers to pay more attention to the needs of the environment, things like energy conservation, clean water and urban sprawl.
“I hope that we'll get increasing support at the state level for the environment. We are the one of the least supported of all 50 states in terms of state funding going to protection of parks and environmental issues,” said Albemarle County Supervisor Sally Thomas.
Environmentalists mailed their list of concerns to more than 100 statewide lawmakers this afternoon.
