To kick off black history month, UVa Students and community members came out to support Martin Luther King, Jr.
There was singing, a slide-show, and words from a close and personal friend of King. He called on students to fight for the truth and stand-up for what they believe in, just as King believed in the Constitution.
"All of us were created equal and that we would have equal access to all that the country afforded. He believed those things and he believed it so much until he was willing to give-up his life for it," said Rev. Dr. Albert Paul Brinson, a friend of King's.
The event was sponsored by the UVa office of African American affairs and the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
