A local woman was honored Wednesday for her efforts in the community.
The Junior League of Charlottesville presented the Emily Couric Community Advocacy Award to Bruce Murray of the Charlottesville Free Clinic.
The clinic nominated Murray for her range of supportive roles, including fundraising and education for the organization. Murray has been on the clinic's board for the past nine years and says she's thrilled with the honor.
"It's a very exciting thing. It's an honor. It is not anything that I expected. I am humbled and very honored to receive it," said recipient, Bruce Murray.
Two thousand dollars will also be given to the Charlottesville Free Clinic in honor of Murray. This marks the fourth year for the award.
