Albemarle County Police are looking for a person or persons who burglarized three homes in a rural section of the County. They occurred in the Red Hill section of Albemarle County yesterday afternoon. The three houses in the Dudley Mountain Road area were targeting, entered, and burglarized.

This quiet country road is normally home to cows and hay, but yesterday, it was an area targeted by burglars.

"There were three residences. All three residences were broken into usually through either a back door or a side door," said Lt. John Teixeira of the Albemarle County Police.

Police say the three homes in the 2400 and 2500 block of Dudley Mountain Road were forcibly entered and possessions inside were taken.

"Several small items were taken. Electronics, some cash, a couple of weapons were taken. They were fairly small items. Obviously we're concerned about all of it but the firearms are a particular concern," said Teixeira.

No one was home at the time and all of the homes were secured. Still, police want to remind citizens to always use caution by locking your home, even if you live in a rural area.

"It is important for people, even when they live out in the country to make sure that their vehicles and their residences are always locked and secured," Teixeira said.

Police say they have no suspects in this case at this time, but are working diligently to make some headway. If you have any information about these burglaries, you are asked to call Crimestoppers at 434-977-4000.
