City Council Candidate Dave Norris today laid out his plan to make housing more affordable to Charlottesville residents.

His four part plan focuses on expanding the amount of affordable housing in the City, but making it a focus on the political agenda. Norris says for the past ten years, the City's focus has been to build up the housing stock, but that needs to change.

"Here in our community we have thousands of residents on waiting lists for Section 8 rental assistance and public housing. Young families who can't afford to buy a home, thanks to the skyrocketing housing costs. And we're not exactly building starting homes anymore," he said.

His plan also stresses regional cooperation with the surrounding counties and the University of Virginia.
