Just three days removed from a substantial snow storm, the Charlottesville area enjoyed a bit of a warming trend.

"It's just a beautiful day and being in the middle of February, you wouldn't think a day would be like this," said Charlie Warren.

Whether walking, throwing a Frisbee, running or doing a little shopping, people in the Charlottesville area were out enjoying the weather. Warren heard the forecast last night and decided to take the day off.

"I just decided I was going to relax today, and come down [to the Downtown Mall] and shop around and enjoy the day," he said.

Adults weren't the only ones playing hookie today. Appelina Girard is supposed to be home sick from school, but the nice weather got her a free pass to play.

"I had to pick her up at school. She was not so good. Actually, she feels better right now outside," said her mom, Sandrine Girard.

The Downtown Mall was filled with people soaking up the rays and even eating outside. Brian O'Dell just got out of class and decided lunch outside at Miller's was a good idea.

"The unpredictable weather today. I had to get outside and enjoy it," O'Dell said.

Just days ago, Washington Park looked like a winter wonderland. Now, all that remains are the remnants of what was once a snowman. And while there is still a substantial amount of winter left, people say they will enjoy days like this.

"I was throwing snowballs at my dog yesterday and now, I am out here in the sun. So it's a nice change," said O'Dell.

"The weather is crazy right now but I will enjoy today," Girard said.

The warm weather is probably going to stick around for at least another day, which is a welcome sight for people that are trying to get a break from winter's wrath. Spring does not officially begin until March 20.
