A grand jury has indicted the man accused of abducting a Nelson County teenager early last month.
Randy Allen Taylor is now formally charged with two felonies after a grand jury in Nelson County Circuit Court determined Tuesday there is enough evidence to go ahead with a trial.
The first charge is for allegedly abducting 17-year-old Alexis Murphy in August. Taylor previously waived his preliminary hearing on that charge.
The jury also indicted Taylor on a new charge for possessing a stolen ATV. The Commonwealth's attorney says that charge is unrelated to Murphy's disappearance.
Murphy, who would be a senior at Nelson County High School, was last seen at a Lovingston gas station on August 3.
The car she was driving was found in Albemarle County days later.
On August 11, Taylor was arrested in connection with the teen's disappearance, accused of abducting her.
Taylor remains behind bars at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
His next court appearance is October 23. That's when the court will likely set a date for a trial.
