'The Hook's' Final Issue Hits Newsstands

After 12 years, 600 issues, and countless stories, The Hook's final issue has been published. The paper hit newsstands Thursday.

The final issue includes a farewell note from the editor, and a look back at some of the paper's most memorable stories and headlines over the past 12 years.

Earlier this month, The Hook's owner announced the paper would merge with it's former competitor 'C-Ville Weekly. A few members of The Hook's staff are making to move to the new paper.

The hook's editor, Courteney Stuart, said over the past few weeks the staff scrambled trying decide what stories to they wanted to run in their last few issues. They hope this final issue, and the paper's overall body of work through the last 12 years, cements its legacy in Charlottesville.

Stuart says one of the final projects will be making sure the online archive of articles remains available once the newsroom closes.

The paper prided itself of publishing fair, balanced, and colorful stories, and, according to its website, being Charlottesville's most award-winning weekly.
