The Orange County Sheriff's Office has arrested one man in connection with a possible meth lab operation.

Deputies were executing an eviction notice in the Rhoadesville area on Monday. While surveying the property, the deputies noticed a camper trailer that appeared suspicious. After further investigation they were able to determine that the camper trailer was being used as a meth lab.

Investigators from the Orange Co. Sheriff’s Office, the Blue Ridge Narcotics and Gang Task Force and the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations were called in to assist in collecting evidence and the cleanup of hazardous materials.

Officials say law enforcement seized an undetermined amount of crystal meth, chemicals and other products used to produce crystal meth and a number of firearms from the camper.

K-9 units from Culpeper Co. Sheriff’s Office along with State Police were called to attempt to locate the suspect, 55-year-old David Gene Thorsted, but were unable to find him on Monday.

Thorsted was arrested in Spotsylvania County on Tuesday afternoon. He is charged with manufacturing meth. The investigation is ongoing, and more charges are pending.
