The Electoral Board held a drawing to determine the third Charlottesville School Board seat to be filled in the May 2nd general election.
The Electoral Board drew School Board Member Ned Michie's name during their regular monthly meeting.
Currently Michie and School Board Chair Julie Gronlund hold the seats, both of which were supposed to expire in 2007, but Tuesday's drawing will cut Michie's term six months short, while extending Gronlund's by six months.
"Since my name was drawn, my feeling is that I will go ahead and run as long as I can scrape together enough signatures and enough money to do so," said Michie.
Last November, residents voted to have an elected school board instead of an appointed one, and the upcoming election of school board members will be the first of its kind here in Charlottesville.
Seats currently held by Dede Smith and Muriel Wiggins will also be on the May 2 ballot.
