Nursing students at the University of Virginia are getting a chance to practice what they have been learning in the classroom with some hands-on training.
Students are practicing on life-like mannequins in their simulator lab. They have women and men mannequins, as well as pediatric devices. They can breathe, talk, cry, and even have a heartbeat.
Students are able to use the simulators to learn about labor and delivery, seizures, pneumonia, heat failure and more.
About 50 nursing students pass through the lab each day.
