Oct. 22, 2013

The driver of a refrigeration company van has pleaded guilty in a hit-and-run accident that killed two motorcycle riders in Louisa County.

Thirty-year-old Kenneth G. Wadford of Cumberland pleaded guilty on Monday to involuntary manslaughter, hit-and-run, and driving with a revoked license.

Wadford allegedly struck a motorcycle back in June. The driver and passenger were both thrown from the bike. The victims were identified as 50-year-old Oneal F. Newman and 53-year-old Joyce A. Herriot, both of Spotsylvania. Newman was operating the motorcycle.

Louisa County's Commonwealth’s Attorney says Wadford had been drinking before the accident.

He faces up to 31 years in prison at his sentencing in January.
